What is a Domain Password?

A Domain Password is a unique code that is issued to each domain name that WebCentral manages. It’s like a PIN or password and is designed to prevent fraudulent or unauthorised transfers of your domain without your knowledge.

Why do I need a Domain Password?

If you ever decide to transfer your domain to a different Registrar, you'll need to give the new Registrar the password, to prove that you have the right to move the domain.

How do I get my Domain Password?

You can obtain your Domain Password via two different ways, depending on the type of domain name you have.

For domains that don’t end in .au

This one is pretty easy. You have two options to obtain your key.:

  • Log a support case using the Console to our Domain Admin team
  • Contact our Customer Service team directly on 1800 800 099, Option 2 and request your Domain Password over the phone

In both instances, the Password will be sent to the Primary Email Contact on your domain.

For domains ending in .au

  • Simply go to this link. Enter your domain name and hit Continue. The Registry Key will be sent to the Primary Email Contact on your account.
